3 tips: Twitter as B2B tool

The most mentioned brands on Twitter are Twitter, Apple, Google, YouTube, Microsoft, Blackberry, Amazon, Facebook, Snuggie, eBay and Starbucks, according to a recent study.

“There is still a misperception that if brands show up, people will listen to them, kind of like Facebook a few years ago,” said Senior Vice President Sarah Hofstetter of 360i the company that conducted the study.  “Twitter can be used as a promotional RSS feed, but that’s not going to establish a relationship with anybody.”

True,  the conventional wisdom of Madison Avenue and hip social media gurus insists that Twitter (and social media in general) should be used ONLY as way to “engage” customers and establish a “relationship.”

I’m here to tell you there’s SEO much more to using twitter! My clients have benefited from using twitter as a small business advertising and B2B marketing tool. Mad Men may look down on this approach but I have found it very effective with key business to business audiences.
